How Do You Say "Adorable" in German?

So this little man belongs to the most wonderful family.  Besides being just the sweetest bunch of people, they have the distinction of ALL being bilingual.  Everyone speaks German, except for the little man of course, and they are fluent.  I so wish I could speak any language (other than English or Pig Latin) well enough to carry on a conversation, never mind teach it to my children.  So impressive!  Anyway, here are a few of my favorite shots from my afternoon with the newest addition to their bunch...

I love that he is so proud of his little chubby tummy...not too many people can pull off that look!

I love, love, love the tongue!  I might be biased though as all my kids were tongue kids too!

Can You Dig It?

I know I promised funny little girl pictures, but I thought I would take this Monday opportunity to make you feel better about your weekend.  Don't get me wrong...I got to do some fun stuff this weekend...movie and pizza night with some of my favorite people, watch my biggest darling play soccer (which I LOVE), and play school with some of the best teachers around (I can tell you anything you want to know about the tropical rainforest now).  BUT (I think you knew that was coming) here is what I spent the majority of my doing weekend....

 

 

 

Does the vintage black & white help make it look more fun?  Well, it wasn't ALL bad...my partner in crime is always good for a laugh and a trip to the ice cream store for all the good little worker bees and he kinda cute too!

 

See what happens after almost 15 years of marriage...matching, his & hers muddy boots...

 

So if after all that, your weekend doesn't seem like a tropical vacation or a day at the spa, feel free to come over next weekend when we will be installing about 184 of these 60 lb bad boys...

A Spoonful of Sugar

Just a little something to sweeten up your day!  You all know how I like a good song reference and in my other life I am Mary Poppins to these two little lovelies...and they certainly are sweet enough to eat!  Here are a few of my favorites from our latest photo playdate...I think everyone will appreciate their expressions but even more so for those of you who know and love them!  Enjoy and know that I have a special series of photos from this session to share next....

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I am just realizing that I didn't post any in black and white...though I did really love them that way, the colors/outfits were just too cute for words...nicely done mom!  Maybe I'll do the funny series in black & white for you....I know the suspense is killing you!! 

Happy as a Clam

My camera has been getting a workout this week and this post starts off the beginning of all the sneak peeks.  This little lady is now just days shy of 6 months old.  You can see her as a wee, tiny thing here.  At first (and this is ALWAYS the way with 6 month olds) she was a little caught off guard by all the new and different stuff going on....but then I pulled out my fancy, squeaky clam toy and I had her full attention.  When I say FULL attention, that is exactly what I mean.  She could not take her eyes off the darn thing for the rest of her time here.  If I set it down she was immediately looking for it or trying desperately to figure out how she could get to it.  It was hysterical to see her fascination and watch her little brain working on her big dilemma.  Anyway, here are a few of my favorites....

Our little gnome princess!  This wonderful sweater was knit by her great-grandma.  It is the coolest sweater....you slip the arms in and it zips up the back...so easy!

Experimenting with Pattern

So, my friend has the best tablecloth EVER and she lent it to me for WAY too long!  Sorry to have hogged it so long!  But I finally figured out where & how to hang it so I could try it out as a backdrop and then I had to force someone to sit in front of it, which lasted all of about 3 minutes...you will be able to see the joy in her face!  Anyway, I really like how they turned out..well, the background at least, though I do sort of enjoy the whole pouty/sulky thing my model has going on...very supermodel, don't you think?

 

 

 

 

I didn't think I would like the black & white, mostly because I love the colors in the fabric, but it turned out kind of vintage-y...yay!

Beach Bums

This was the coolest street near the beach, called Banyan Lane (or street or something) and had all these gorgeous banyan trees lining it on both sides.  I really wanted a shot of the kids standing in the middle of the street but cars kept driving through and there was a couple there having engagement photos taken etc....

Surf, Sand & Sunshine

(alternately titled: Fins to the left & fins to the right...who's singing now?)

 

Just a few starter photos to get you in the spirit of our vacation...

 

Fins to the left = dolphins, actually 2 of them swam by while we were at the beach....so cool!

 

 

Fins to the right = Bonnethead shark

(caught and released by our fabulous fisherman and reason #1 I didn't venture too far out into the surf...SHARKS for Pete's sake!)

and now for just some pretties from our day at the beach...we were at Boca Grande beach on the Gulf of Mexico...doesn't that sound exotic?

Hop, Hop, Hoppity, Hop

Happy Easter!  We made it back from our vacation just in time for our traditional family brunch and Easter egg hunt.  What is also a tradition in our family is the bunny ear photo...though sadly I didn't get started soon enough and missed a few of our bunnies, here is what we ended up with...you will notice that Henry is (not surprisingly) missing in action....what?  too cool to wear some bunny ears?

 

What is surprising (to me at least) is that the photos were this guy's idea...

She's not a puppy anymore...

Well, ok she still acts like a puppy but she is now officially one year old.  Remember when she was just a teeny, tiny ball of fluff....(check here for a reminder)...well, now she is a gigantic beast of a dog, though she has managed to get herself a boyfriend....wonder how long that will last as she outweighs him by 30 lbs and likes to sit on him.  Anyway, here is the birthday girl in all her party finest....
