My baby is a horse girl. She has been since she was two. I'm pretty sure everyone knows one of those girls. Well, she lucked out. This year it just so happened that her pre-school teacher actually owns her own horse. These two completely bonded over the horse ALL YEAR LONG. At the end of the year Annie's fabulous teacher actually invited her over to meet the horse! Annie was beside herself with joy and once we got to the barn, she was the quietest I have ever seen her. She was absolutely soaking in every horse molecule possible....in complete awe of everything. And this was no little pony...well, you can see for yourself....
Look at my tiny baby up there on that mammoth horse! She got to ride the horse, take off her (the horse's) boots, feed her carrots, wash her, curry & comb her...Annie was completely blissed out. And you can bet that I heard a lot of "I am going to check the porch everyday to see if Santa brought me a horse" on the way home, plus many tears all evening because she wanted to live with her teacher and horse...never mind boring old me. Anyway, just a few more from out afternoon at the barn...
Hard at work...
Such a gorgeous horse...well, I think they are all pretty fabulous...
Even though, in reality the horse belongs to Annie's teacher, it is her daughter who has taken over. They spend about 3 hours a day at the barn with the horse...now that takes dedication! This next shot is my absolute favorite of the day. I struggled with getting the right shot of Annie, it was hard to frame tiny her with the giant horse in a shot I loved. I guess I just needed a taller human subject to make it work the way I wanted...can you tell she LOVES her horse??
Wish me luck dissuading Annie from a lifelong love affair with horses...I'm pretty sure I don't have the funding or patience for it.
I adore that shot of Annie 'working'! I love how big the horse is and how little Annie is her her rubber boots. Great shot!

Those are amazing pictures - I love the one of Annie reaching up to the horse's bridle (I think that's what it's called?!?!?). Lucky girl!!!!

Love these pictures! And your little horse girl. Not to give her any ideas, but I used to "work" (i.e. volunteer) at a horse ranch and was able to take care of and ride the horses for free. And my bachelorette trip was a 4-day horseback camping trip in the Wenatchee mountains (and they do family trips too). I've got LOTS of ideas to help fan the flames. (And maybe someday I'll tell her about why I'm nearly 2 inches shorter than I used to be, thanks to a scaredy-cat horse named Rita, a lone coyote, and a few really stupid decisions on my part...but we'll save that story for later.)

Wow! She is so focused in that shot of her reaching up to the horse. She was really in heaven there, wasn't she.
