Ok, so her birthday was yesterday but we are lounging around in the sun with our friends Ben & Jerry celebrating ALL week long! Could there be a better birthday present??

One of my favorite post-shooting activities is birth announcement (or holiday card) design. Granted, I am no design goddess, but I do love finding great designs and even more, I love seeing it all come together! One of my recent moms and I just put the finishing touches on her little guy's announcement and I love how it all turned out! And, no, I'm not going to show you his, but I will show you a few of my other favorites....
Love, love, love the simplicity of this whole set...and I love using the back of the announcement too!

I'll say it again...I'm the luckiest girl in the world! This little guy is my newest neighbor and I was privileged enough to be invited over for a little introduction. He was a champ! At first, he struggled through a tough round of the hiccups but then he was out like a light. Here are a few of my favorites...though I'll tell you, it was tough to choose. (My family will second that as I sat in front of my computer and squealed with glee for a good part of the afternoon.)
A sweet little family moment....I love the quiet of this one.
But I couldn't pick a favorite family one....I love the love in this one. I think they might keep him for awhile!
You know how I feel about hats...well, look at what his momma had....I was giddy with joy!

This little guy just wanted me to hold him and snuggle him which makes it kind of challenging to take his picture. But, since he is the softest, sweetest little bundle and I didn't mind it one bit!

You'd think he'd be a little sleepy. Don't be fooled. He wasn't missing one minute of our little party! And, he's hilariously, very strong minded for such a little guy. He does NOT wear hats. Every time I would put one on him, he would express his displeasure. When he actually reached up and pulled one off, I quit trying...partly because I was laughing too hard!

So while I was in Vegas at the big ol' convention I saw many beautiful things. This has inspired me to finally get organized and hang some fabulous stuff in my studio. Now the only problem with this ambitious plan is that I am awful at decision making, as some of you well know. Not only does this master plan involve selecting which of my favorite images I would like to hang, but also which size? which format? canvas? float wrap? standout mount? newborns? families? bellies? black & white? color? Do you see my dilemma?
This is where all you lovely people come in. I have decided that you all should have some say..or maybe all the say.
Not only did I see lots of fabulous stuff, I learned a ton too. Specifically and repeated in just about every class, Facebook is the way of the future...get on the bus! My favorite shot of the parents-to-be, way back when....
This whole weekend was jam-packed full of fun. It started out with Madelyn's first "real" snowboarding adventure (including many trips on the chairlift). I really wish I had a photo for you but I only experienced it through stories and video. I am no snowbunny. Then the girls and I had a fun sleepover at Aunt Deborah's (which always involves our own, personal, tub of ice cream!). Then bright and early (thank you Daylight Savings) I had the opportunity to meet and photograph the brand newest member of one of my favorite families. You have seen them here before and you will see them again soon, I promise! Then I headed straight to a family baby shower. One of our cousins is expecting the newest addition to our big clan and we wanted to celebrate! Here's a little taste of our fun....

Sadly she doesn't live up here just yet, (boohoo for me). So if any of you have a great plan about how to get me to California at the last minute, super cheap, do tell, as I would love to be able to fly down for a day right after the little man arrives and shoot some photos.

The ugly reality of what I do all day.....
So the lovely and talented Madelyn was left in charge while I was gone. She is the expert. She's the one who knows how to turn on the washer, dryer, & dishwasher. She is the one that is aware of most of the things that go on around here. So she made this lovely little schedule (one for every day that I was gone) so her father wouldn't lose track of anything important. My personal favorite part of the list is that she has allotted him some "do whatever" time. Apparently that's what I do while she's at school all day.
Luckily they all survived my absence and I survived Vegas (though just barely). Actually, I had a great time and learned a TON but I am super glad to be home and even more thankful that I live in a smoke-free habitat!
Just in case the weather is awful while I'm gone, I'm leaving you with a little sunshine....
