(and for those who don't know, his nickname is Jam...pretty crafty post title on my part, no?)

Last week my buddy Super {B} came over to play. He is a really cool super hero and if I were facing imminent peril from a dangerous villain, this is who I would count on in my hour of need....

(For any of you photographer types, I was experimenting with shooting with natural light only in my studio....requiring super high ISO (that accounts for the grain), super slow shutter speed (that gives you the action blur) and a pretty wide open aperture. I also tried out some funky post-processing for the old school, vintage movie feel.)
And then, just a little of his Clark Kent, non-superhero adorableness....

So we have this park in our neighborhood and it has two GIANT slides. I'm sure the park has an official name, but at our house we just call it "the giant slide park". Well, one of the local home builders is putting a similar park into one of their new neighborhoods and they needed some photos to show prospective home buyers. Love this kind of project!
The best part about this park = I get to sit on the bench and relax while the children slide down at top speed and then have to hike/climb back up to the top of the hill. One mommy relaxed and all children exhausted, guaranteed!!

As I may have mentioned, I am now a fancy-schmancy destination photographer. Apparently I have been for awhile, I just wasn't paying enough attention. Anyway, this is the last of my "destination" photos...and what a destination it is....
So gorgeous! We were so lucky as it had been snowing like mad for the previous 2 days and was actually warm while we were in the park.
Where is all this fabulousness, you ask....

Really, spectacularly beautiful.
WARNING: there is much rambling on and on in this post (not to mention how much the spellchecker hated much of my word choice)...go get a snack.
I love maternity sessions. I love everything about them. Glowing mommas. Round bellies. The fact that there is such a thing as cute/fabulous maternity clothes. There was not much in that category way back when I was having babies. I am so, not a traditionalist (read: lots of drape-y fabrics and nakedness) when it comes to maternity shots....I'm all about color and fashion and fun. So far I have been incredibly lucky in that all my maternity clients have been very fashion forward (and incredibly gorgeous), though you don't always get to see them here....not everyone is comfortable baring their belly for the world (and that's just fine with me). And just so you know, you don't actually have to show any skin (well, any of the belly's skin) to get a great shot.
So if you've read this blog for awhile or checked out the website you have seen this belly before....but there was a different kid in there then. It belongs to one of my very favorite people...I've known her since she was 14 (can that even be right??) and she is always a very agreeable and gorgeous model for me. This is the latest version...belly 2.0.

I know, I know...she's tiny and perfect! Generally speaking, I like bellies in the 34ish week range and she's not quite that but when getting to her involves a smallish prop plane landing in 50 mph winds, it's the best I could do. Though I did learn a handy tip for all you frequent fliers....all Horizon flights in and out of Montana serve FREE "drinks". Now I know why though. It's to reduce the number of freak out panic attacks while you are bumping (and that's putting it nicely) through the air. A huge "sorry" to the gentleman sitting in front of me. I hit him in the head at least twice while frantically clutching at his seat. (there. now you know one of my secret weirdnesses. clearly, not so secret anymore.)

So there has been some discussion on the facebook fan page about how much some people don't enjoy having their photo taken. Well, I consider it my personal mission to be sure that all women (ok, that's a lot of people...so I'll narrow it down to just the women I know) have at least one gorgeous shot of themselves. You all deserve it! Coincidentally, I spent some time this last weekend shooting some of my favorite women and here are a few new profile photo candidates....
So hard for me to put up the serious ones...they are fabulously gorgeous, just so different from what I am used to seeing from these girls............
and then, purely for my entertainment, and because I'm a little obsessed with these gorgeous eyes! Tried out some fancy editing stuff too...

This last weekend I was lucky enough to get to go to one of the most beautiful places on earth for a maternity shoot (apparently I am now a fancy-schmancy destination photographer). Interestingly enough it also somehow involved four grueling days of doing nothing with some of my very favorite girlfriends. Lucky for me, they are all willing (or willing to be bribed) photo subjects and were very agreeable to my many "projects".

Project #2 = some nice shots for peoples work/facebook profiles (also coming soon)
Project #3 = amuse myself
Well, here are a few from one of my pet projects....as you will learn about me, anytime there is a common theme in the shoe department, there will be photos...a la my family converse portrait (which excitingly is here and hanging over my fireplace...also, to be blogged soon)

P.S. Well, ok, maybe you noticed there are only shots with 2 of the 3 of my children. Luckily I'm a realist and wasn't expecting miracles...we're just taking baby steps. First, I had to relinquish control of my camera (eek!) and then I had to encourage (bribe, force, tackle) my camera-weary children to be somewhere in the same vicinity as myself. I only tell you all this because I just want you all to know that I know how challenging it can be, so you'll just have to take a deep breath and trust me....you will be glad in the end and maybe even surprised that it wasn't as awful as you thought it was going to be.
P.P.S Here are a few with that same idea in mind...only it's my sister and her sproglet. Thanks for being a willing participant in this adventure sissy!
